LaserCraft Continues to Grow

In late 1996, LaserCraft Technologies founder Rodney Greene rented a 3,000 square foot space and took delivery of his first Mazak Laser which he operated himself. Within a year, LaserCraft purchased a second laser.
In early 1999, Jody Greene; initially an investor; came on full time to handle the financial and human resource aspects of the business allowing Rodney to concentrate on sales and production.
By late 1999, LaserCraft had outgrown the 3,000 square foot space in Lilburn, Georgia and moved north to Gainesville. Along with the move into the 30,000 square foot facility, LaserCraft purchased new fabrication equipment, including press brakes and welding machines. Within a few years, LaserCraft purchased another laser and expanded staff to 40 employees.
In December 2006, LaserCraft moved into their current facility and acquired two companies, relocating them to the same location. The purchase of Hi-Tech Fabrication expanded the sheet metal manufacturing capabilities while the purchase of N&S Machine Co. added new CNC milling and turning capabilities.
Most recent growth has come from a significant amount of investment with the purchase of new equipment and expanding their staff. Since the occupation of the 119,000 square foot manufacturing facility in 2006, LaserCraft has greatly expanded its operation with a flexible manufacturing system for two of their five lasers, CNC plate rolling, robotic welding, large capacity welding with three 7.5 ton cranes and full assembly services. LaserCraft also updated and doubled the size of their machining department by adding two new CNC milling centers and two new turning centers.
In early 2014, LaserCraft earned its ISO 9001:2008 certification.
LaserCraft Technologies is constantly working on continually improving with a dedicated team. Our focus is to provide the best quality and service to our customers. We believe in earning our customer’s business and loyalty.

Processes and Capabilities

Lasercrafts’ facility is equipped to produce a wide range of jobs in multiple industries. Each process is performed with the latest and best technologies available on the market today. This gives us the ability to manufacture prototypes, small quantity orders, high volume OEM part orders and large multi-level assemblies. We are always pursuing value added services and increased vertical integration to service our customers’ needs.

Lasers

LaserCraft currently operates five Mazak lasers that provide cutting edge technology. Our lasers range from a single 1000W laser, one 2500W Space Gear, as well as three 4000W lasers. Two of our 4000W lasers are outfitted with an automated material handling system. Our laser technology and automation coupled with our advanced software provides maximum efficiency which in turn provides value to our customers.

Laser Capabilities: Material Max Thickness, Steel 1 inch, Stainless ½ inch, Aluminum 3/8 inch

Punching

In 2012, Lasercraft invested in a Muratec Motorum 2558 which provides the latest in CNC punching technology. The Muratec provides outstanding manufacturing speed, accuracy and offers versatile secondary work stages such as forming, tapping, and etching. We also operate an Amada Pega CNC Turret Punch, a Geka 55 ton Iron Worker, as well as a Whitney Single Station Punch. Having these punching capabilities on hand gives us options to best process customer parts.

Forming

LaserCraft has invested in state-of –the-art , CNC Accurpress Press Brakes that incorporate precision ground and hardened forming dies. We have five press brakes ranging from 60 ton for smaller, lighter gauge jobs, up to 235 tons for the larger and heavier parts. Our 195 and 235 ton press brakes work with a 6 axis Backguage that gives an advantage with multi-degree bends, multi-bend lengths and reduced set up times. These features help us give an our customers better part with top efficiency.

Welding

LaserCraft Technologies offers two Robotic Welding stastions, Tig welding, Spot-welding, Stud welding, and Mig welding. Three 7-1/2 ton cranes help to provide mobility in welding large parts in our Mig welding department. Materials we weld include Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Galvaneal, and Galvanized. Our welders are certified and bring a lot of experience to the table in order to produce a quality end product for the customer.

Machining

LaserCraft Technologies is proud to provide full machining capabilities. With three CNC turning centers, four CNC milling centers, and a complete manual milling shop we can produce a wide variety of parts for our customers.

Cutting

Along with our laser and turret cutting, LaserCraft Technologies offers a wide variety of cutting metal and structural material. We process this cutting with a Accushear shear, automatic horizontal band saws, and a semi-automatic cold saw.

Finishing

Finishes are important to our customers here at LaserCraft Technologies. We have invested in four timesavers, a vibratory finishing mill for stainless material, bead blasting for stainless parts large and small, as well as a stroke sander.

Assembly & Hardware Install

Lasercraft offers complete assembly services for items that are manufactured at Lasercraft, Customer supplied, and/or purchased. This can range from simple mechanical assemblies of fabricated sheet metal and machined parts to complex electro-mechanical assemblies. Assembly and integration can include inspection, testing and custom packaging. LaserCraft Technologies offers hardware install for customer parts using two pemserter machines, rivnut installation tools, and pop rivet installation tools.
